Description

The Solana is an 11 light chandelier built around a 730mm diameter circular metal ring finished in matt black, with eleven blown smoked Pyrex glass globes arranged evenly around the ring. Each globe houses a G9 bulb fitting (bulbs sold separately), giving the light a distributed output across the full diameter rather than from a single central point.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and large open-plan living spaces where a single pendant would be undersized, the Solana provides ambient lighting across a 2-3m surface from a ceiling height of 2.4m or above. The 730mm ring spreads light horizontally, reducing the shadowing that can occur under a single central pendant. The 300mm drop from ceiling rose to the base of the glass globes is fixed on installation, so the fitting works best in rooms with ceiling heights above 2.6m to maintain clearance over a dining surface or worktop.

The smoked Pyrex glass diffuses and softens the G9 output without blocking it entirely, creating a warm glow through the tinted glass while the black metal ring recedes visually against darker ceilings. The matt black powder-coated finish on the metal minimises reflections and pairs cleanly with industrial, contemporary and monochrome interiors. At 730mm diameter the Solana has a substantial presence suited to rooms 4m x 4m or larger, where a smaller pendant would look lost. The fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible G9 LED bulbs and a trailing-edge dimmer.

What bulbs does the Solana take?

The fitting takes 11 x G9 bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with G9 LED capsules between 2.5-4W per bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient dining or living room lighting. The fitting is dimmable when used with dimmable G9 LEDs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer.

What table size does it suit?

The 730mm diameter works over dining tables 1.8-2.4m long or kitchen islands 2-3m in length. The circular form spreads light horizontally across the surface, reducing shadowing under the fitting compared to a single central pendant.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 300mm drop is fixed and cannot be adjusted on installation. For a typical 700-800mm clearance above a dining table or worktop, ceiling heights of 2.6m or above are recommended. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the fitting if used in an entrance hall or living space where overhead clearance is less critical.

Is the smoked glass interchangeable?

The blown Pyrex glass globes are fixed to the metal ring on the factory assembly. They are not designed to be removed or replaced by the user, and Ideal Lux does not supply replacement globes separately for this model.
