Description

The Selia is a 41cm flush ceiling light built around a tiered arrangement of laser-cut chrome plates, with five E14 bulb fittings positioned inside a ring of hanging crystal prisms. The chrome plates form an angular crown that sits within 35cm of the ceiling, allowing the fitting to be installed in rooms with ceiling heights as low as 2.3m without head-clearance issues.

Designed for dining rooms, bedrooms and entrance halls where a decorative flush fitting is needed instead of a pendant, the Selia combines the functional role of a semi-flush ceiling light with the visual presence of a crystal chandelier. The chrome plates reflect light from the five bulbs back into the room, while the crystal prisms refract that light into the surrounding space, creating moving highlights on walls and ceilings as the angle of view shifts.

Each chrome plate is laser-cut to a defined geometric profile and polished to a mirror finish, giving sharp edges and high reflectivity. The crystal prisms hang on individual suspension wires beneath the chrome layers, forming a curtain around the lower half of the fitting. At 7.6kg the Selia requires a secure ceiling fixing into solid structure or joist position, not just plasterboard fixings alone. The 41cm diameter suits rooms between 12-18m² where a larger chandelier would overpower the space.

What bulbs does it take?

The Selia uses five E14 small Edison screw candle bulbs, sold separately. Most users install 4-6W LED candle bulbs in either warm white (2700K) or cool white (4000K) depending on the room. Total bulb wattage should not exceed 25W per fitting.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting projects 35cm down from the ceiling, so minimum recommended ceiling height is 2.3m to allow comfortable head clearance. Standard UK ceiling heights of 2.4m work well.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The flush-mount design keeps the fitting close to the ceiling, making it one of the more suitable options for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.5m where a pendant would hang too low.

How is the weight supported?

At 7.6kg the Selia must be fixed securely into ceiling joists or solid structure. Plasterboard fixings alone are not adequate. If the ceiling rose position does not align with a joist, install a spreader plate across two joists behind the plasterboard before fitting the light.
