Description
The Salonne is an 8-light crystal chandelier built from hundreds of clear Strass lead crystal spheres arranged in a tapered teardrop form, 43cm wide at the base and 54cm tall. Eight SES bulbs (sold separately, 40W max each) sit within the crystal framework, suspended from a chrome canopy and chain. The chrome structure is minimal — the visual mass is entirely crystal.
Designed for entrance halls, stairwells and dining rooms with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Salonne works as a primary light source in spaces 4-5m square. The tapered form concentrates visual weight at the base while maintaining a lighter profile at the ceiling, making it suitable for double-height spaces where the chandelier is viewed from both ground level and upper floors. The 22kg weight requires secure ceiling fixing into a joist or reinforced ceiling rose.
Each crystal sphere is faceted Strass lead crystal, which has a higher refractive index than standard glass and produces sharper prismatic effects when lit. The density of the crystal packing means light bounces between spheres before escaping, creating diffused brightness rather than harsh direct beams. The chrome finish on the canopy and chain is polished rather than brushed, matching the reflective quality of the crystal and working in interiors with other polished metal or mirrored surfaces.
The 8 SES bulbs can be fitted with warm-white LEDs (2700K-3000K) for a softer ambient effect or cooler daylight LEDs (4000K+) for brighter task-focused lighting. The chandelier is height-adjustable on installation by shortening the chain before final fixing.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Salonne take?
The chandelier takes 8 SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most buyers pair this with 4-6W warm-white LED candle bulbs for lower running costs and longer bulb life.
What ceiling height is needed?
The chandelier measures 54cm tall excluding the chain. For a dining room or entrance hall, allow at least 2.1-2.3m clearance below the chandelier base to avoid head height issues. This typically requires ceiling heights of 2.7m or above. The chain can be shortened during installation to adjust the final drop.
How is the chandelier cleaned?
Strass lead crystal attracts dust and fingerprints. Clean when the bulbs are cool and the power is off. Wipe each crystal sphere gently with a dry microfibre cloth, or use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water for stubborn marks. Avoid household sprays and do not soak the crystals — excess moisture can seep into the metal framework.
Can the chandelier support its own weight on a standard ceiling rose?
The Salonne weighs 22kg. Standard plasterboard ceilings without reinforcement cannot carry this load. The chandelier must be fixed into a ceiling joist or onto a spreader plate that distributes the load across multiple joists. Consult a qualified electrician before installation if unsure about ceiling structure.
