Description
The PowerMaster 45W constant current LED driver delivers 1000mA output across a 9-42V range, designed to power LED modules and panels requiring stable current regulation. The driver accepts 220-240V AC mains input and converts it to regulated DC output through an isolated circuit, with TRIAC phase-cut dimming compatibility allowing 1-100% brightness control when paired with standard leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmers.
Designed for installation inside luminaires, kitchen under-cabinet lighting systems, commercial panel installations and retrofit LED projects where the driver can be concealed. The IP20 rating limits the driver to dry indoor locations only — Zone 3 bathroom areas (more than 600mm from water sources) or further. The 170g weight and compact rectangular housing (visible in the image as approximately 165mm x 45mm x 30mm) fit into most ceiling voids and behind pelmet runs without requiring additional support brackets.
The isolated circuit design separates input and output, reducing electrical noise and improving safety in Class I and Class II luminaire installations. The power factor greater than 0.95 means the driver draws minimal reactive current from the mains, reducing load on circuits and meeting efficiency standards for commercial installations. Maximum case temperature is rated at 90°C, with thermal protection cutting output if the driver overheats due to poor ventilation or excessive ambient temperatures.
The TRIAC dimming protocol works with most residential and commercial wall dimmers already installed in UK properties, avoiding the need for specialist DALI infrastructure or 0-10V control wiring. Dimming performance depends on the specific dimmer model — some dimmers may cause flicker at the low end of the range or fail to dim below 5-10%. Testing with the actual dimmer and LED load is recommended before final installation.

Frequently Asked
What LED modules is this driver compatible with?
The driver outputs 1000mA constant current across 9-42V, so it powers any LED module rated for 1000mA drive current within that voltage range. Total wattage must not exceed 45W. Check the LED module datasheet to confirm current and voltage requirements before connecting.
Does it work with standard wall dimmers?
Yes, the driver supports TRIAC phase-cut dimming, which is the protocol used by most UK residential and commercial leading-edge and trailing-edge dimmers. Dimming range is 1-100%, though performance at the low end depends on the specific dimmer model. Some dimmers may not dim below 5-10% or may cause flicker — testing before final installation is recommended.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating and Zone 3 suitability mean the driver can be installed in bathroom areas more than 600mm away from taps, showers and baths, typically above a false ceiling or inside a wall cavity. It cannot be installed in Zones 0, 1 or 2 where direct water contact or high humidity is present.
What happens if the driver overheats?
The driver includes thermal protection that reduces or cuts output if the case temperature exceeds the rated maximum of 90°C. This can occur if ventilation is poor, ambient temperature is high, or the driver is covered by insulation. Ensure adequate airflow around the driver and avoid installing in enclosed spaces without ventilation gaps.
