Olven 12 Light Strass Crystal Chandelier - Chrome

The Olven is an 830mm diameter crystal chandelier built around a polished chrome circular frame supporting 12 x SES bulb fittings, each surrounded by a dense arrangement of Strass lead crystal prisms. The ring structure sits 180mm deep, with the crystal arranged in two layers, a vertical outer band of rectangular prisms and an inner cascade of smaller cut crystals that fill the underside of the ring.

Designed for dining rooms, open-plan living areas and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Olven provides both ambient light through the 12 bulbs and decorative refraction through the crystal layers. The wide diameter makes it suitable for positioning above dining tables 1.8-2.4m long or as a central feature in rooms 4-5m across. The four-point suspension cable system spreads the 14kg weight evenly across the ceiling rose, and the low 180mm drop means the fitting projects less than 200mm below the ceiling when fully installed.

Each Strass crystal prism is individually cut and polished to refract light into spectrum colours when the bulbs are lit, creating a shifting pattern of reflections across walls and ceilings. The polished chrome frame provides a clean modern edge that contrasts with the more traditional crystal detailing, making the Olven suitable for both contemporary and transitional interiors. The crystal density around the perimeter gives the fitting visual weight even when unlit, so it functions as an architectural element as well as a light source.

What bulb does the Olven take?

The fitting takes 12 x SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K to balance light output with running cost.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 180mm drop plus suspension cables means the fitting sits approximately 200-250mm below the ceiling rose when installed. For comfortable clearance above a dining table (typically 700-800mm), a ceiling height of 2.7m or above is recommended.

Is the fitting dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs used. LED SES candle bulbs marked as dimmable will work with most trailing-edge dimmers, while non-dimmable LED bulbs will flicker or fail to dim correctly. Check the bulb packaging before pairing with a dimmer circuit.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow bulbs to cool fully. Wipe each crystal prism gently with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For more thorough cleaning, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the chrome frame or wiring. Do not use glass cleaners, sprays or polishes on lead crystal as they can leave residue that dulls refraction.
