Description

The Nordan is a 30cm semi-flush ceiling light built from tiered rows of faceted crystal blocks arranged into a globe shape, mounted on a satin gold canopy and central stem. Four G9 bulb fittings sit inside the crystal structure, each taking up to 42W (bulbs sold separately). The 37cm total drop from ceiling to base makes it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above.

Designed for bedrooms, living rooms and hallways where a flush or close-to-ceiling fitting is needed but decorative presence matters, the Nordan pairs ambient light with reflective texture. The concentric crystal layers diffuse and multiply the light from the four internal bulbs, casting patterns onto the ceiling and surrounding walls. The gold finish on the metallic components adds warmth against the clear crystal and pairs comfortably with brass door furniture, gold-toned mirror frames and warm neutral wall colours.

Each crystal block is precision-cut to a faceted profile, giving the fitting its reflective quality under both natural daylight and artificial light. The globe construction means light is distributed in all directions rather than focused downward, making it more suited to ambient lighting than task lighting. At 4.5kg the fitting requires secure fixing into a joist or ceiling mounting point capable of supporting the weight, particularly given the 30cm diameter and the leverage created by the crystal mass below the canopy.

What bulbs does the Nordan take?

The fitting takes four G9 capsule bulbs, each up to 42W maximum. G9 bulbs are available in halogen and LED formats. Most users choose warm white LED G9 bulbs between 3W-5W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedroom or living room lighting. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb type chosen. LED G9 bulbs must be marked as dimmable and paired with an LED-compatible dimmer. Halogen G9 bulbs are dimmable on standard trailing-edge dimmers. The fitting itself has no electronics that would prevent dimming.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 37cm drop is fixed and cannot be adjusted. For safe clearance above head height in circulation areas, a ceiling height of at least 2.3m is recommended. In bedrooms where the fitting is positioned away from walking routes, lower ceilings may still accommodate it.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off power at the mains before cleaning. Use a dry microfibre cloth to wipe each crystal block individually, or a barely-damp cloth for stubborn marks. Avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the fitting as liquid can run into the bulb holders and electrical connections.
