Description
The Montara is a 12-light crystal chandelier built around an antique silver frame with two tiers of curved arms — six in the upper tier and six in the lower — each terminating in an SES (E14) candle-style bulb fitting. The central column and scrollwork are dressed with faceted crystal strings and pendant drops that catch and reflect light from the twelve bulbs, with additional decorative crystal rosettes positioned at the top of each arm.
Designed for formal dining rooms, entrance halls and traditional staircases with ceiling heights above 2.6m, the Montara functions as both ambient light source and decorative centrepiece. The 45cm diameter and 52cm drop suit rooms between 4m and 5.5m across, with the chandelier typically hung 700-900mm above a dining table or positioned centrally in a hallway. The antique silver finish provides a warmer metallic tone than polished chrome or nickel, pairing comfortably with cream, taupe, soft grey and heritage colour schemes.
The two-tier arm configuration distributes the twelve bulbs across different vertical levels, creating layered light output and multiple points of reflection through the crystal drops. Each arm follows a Georgian-inspired scroll form, curving outward from the central stem before rising slightly at the tip where the bulb sits. The combination of metal scrollwork, crystal strings and pendant drops gives the fixture a 3kg weight that requires secure ceiling fixing into a joist or structural support, not just plasterboard alone.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Montara take?
The chandelier takes twelve SES (E14 small Edison screw) candle bulbs, each rated up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with LED candle bulbs between 4-6W in warm white (2700K-3000K) to achieve a soft glow through the crystal without excess heat or energy use.
What ceiling height is needed?
With a 52cm drop plus chain length, the Montara suits rooms with ceiling heights above 2.6m. For dining tables the chandelier typically hangs 700-900mm above the surface, so a room with a 2.7-2.8m ceiling can accommodate it comfortably. Lower ceilings may work if chain length is minimised during installation.
How is the chandelier cleaned?
Switch off and allow bulbs to cool fully. Wipe the antique silver frame with a soft dry cloth. For crystal drops, use a barely-damp microfibre cloth with distilled water, or a spray designed for crystal chandeliers. Avoid soaking the metal frame or using abrasive cleaners that could damage the antique finish.
Is the antique silver finish tarnish-resistant?
The antique silver finish is applied as a decorative coating designed to mimic aged silver. It does not tarnish like real silver but may accumulate dust or show fingerprints during handling. Regular dusting maintains the finish without needing polish or treatment.
