Description

The Mitralux is an 870mm diameter iron chandelier built around a central drum frame with eight candle-effect arms radiating outward, each terminating in a candle-cup lamp holder and decorative drip tray. The frame is finished in a mid-tone grey powder coat (sterling grey) with exposed rivet detailing and scroll brackets that reference medieval ironwork. Each arm takes a single SES (E14 small Edison screw) candle bulb up to 60W, sold separately.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and double-height living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Mitralux delivers ambient light from eight points distributed across the 870mm span. The 35cm drop from ceiling rose to the base of the chandelier means the fitting sits approximately 400-450mm from the ceiling once the chain and canopy are included, placing the light sources at an appropriate height above a dining table (typically 700-900mm clearance). The chain length is adjustable on installation to suit different ceiling heights.

The iron frame weighs 9kg when fully assembled, requiring secure fixing to a joist or ceiling rose rated for the load. The sterling grey finish sits between charcoal and pewter on the tonal scale, pairing comfortably with both warm timber interiors and cooler greys. The exposed rivets, scroll brackets and shield-shaped decorative plates on the central drum give the chandelier a wrought-iron character that suits traditional, rustic and industrial-leaning interiors. The eight-arm radial symmetry distributes light evenly across a 2.5-3m diameter dining table or seating area.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Mitralux take?

Each of the eight arms takes a single SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Candle-shaped LED bulbs in warm white (2700K) are the most common pairing, giving the appearance of flame-effect candles without the heat or energy draw of halogen equivalents. Bulbs are sold separately.

What ceiling height is needed?

The chandelier itself measures 35cm in drop, and the chain and canopy add approximately another 100-150mm depending on chain length chosen during installation. Ceiling heights of 2.7m or above work best, allowing the chandelier to sit 700-900mm above a dining table surface. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the fitting if the chain is shortened.

Is the grey finish smooth or textured?

The sterling grey finish is a powder-coated iron surface with a low-sheen, slightly textured appearance. The exposed rivets and scroll detailing remain visible under the coating, giving the frame a hand-forged character rather than a smooth contemporary finish.

Can the chain length be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The chain can be shortened or lengthened during initial installation by removing or adding links. Once installed, adjusting the chain requires removing the chandelier from the ceiling rose, so it is best to settle on the correct drop height before final wiring and fixing.
