Description

The Melden is an 86cm linear crystal chandelier built around a polished chrome frame that houses eight G9 bulbs behind densely packed vertical crystal strands. The crystals hang in parallel rows between two horizontal chrome rails, forming a continuous 86cm × 25cm rectangular panel that acts as both light source and decorative screen. Each of the eight bulbs sits behind the crystal layer, casting light through the faceted glass and onto surrounding surfaces.

Designed for dining tables longer than 1.8m, kitchen islands and double-height entrance halls, the Melden works where linear scale is needed rather than a compact pendant cluster. The 86cm length suits tables seating 6-8 people or kitchen islands in the 2-2.5m range, positioned 70-80cm above the worktop or table surface. The chrome canopy mounts to a standard UK ceiling rose and the suspension cables are adjustable on installation.

The vertical crystal strands create a woven texture when viewed from the side, while from below the light reads as a glowing panel with the chrome frame defining its edges. The 5.5kg weight requires secure ceiling fixings, the product is not suitable for plasterboard-only ceilings without additional support. The polished chrome finish pairs with cooler-toned interiors, stainless steel appliances and contemporary monochrome schemes. G9 bulbs are sold separately and the fitting accepts LED, halogen or capsule variants up to 33W per bulb.

What bulbs does it take?

The Melden takes eight G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Each bulb can be up to 33W. Most users fit warm-white LED G9 bulbs between 2.5W and 4W per bulb (equivalent to 25-40W halogen output) at 2700K-3000K colour temperature.

What table length does it suit?

The 86cm linear span suits dining tables from 1.8m to 2.4m in length, or kitchen islands in the 2-2.5m range. For tables shorter than 1.8m the fitting can appear oversized; for tables longer than 2.4m a second linear pendant or a larger model may be needed.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow bulbs to cool fully. Use a dry microfibre cloth to wipe each crystal strand vertically, working from top to bottom. For more stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the crystals and do not use household sprays or chemical cleaners.

Does the 5.5kg weight require additional ceiling support?

Yes. The fitting must be mounted to a joist or to a ceiling rose backed by a spreader plate across multiple joists. It is not suitable for plasterboard-only ceilings without additional structural support. Consult a qualified electrician if in doubt.
