Description

The Melden is a 41cm square flush ceiling light built around a chrome frame filled with intersecting crystal rods that form a geometric lattice. Four G9 bulb fittings (bulbs sold separately) sit within the frame, casting light through the crystal rods to produce multidirectional reflections across walls and ceilings. The 18cm projection from ceiling to base suits rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for bedrooms, hallways, landing areas and dining rooms in modern homes and apartments, the Melden delivers decorative impact without requiring the clearance that pendant or semi-flush designs need. The flush mount fixes directly to a ceiling rose with the chrome backplate concealing the electrical connection. Each crystal rod is facet-cut to catch and refract light, so the fitting produces more visual interest when the lights are on than when off.

The chrome finish on the rectangular frame provides a cool metallic accent that pairs with monochrome interiors, white walls and grey-toned schemes. The crystal rods are arranged in a diagonal cross-hatch pattern, giving the fitting a geometric structure rather than the cascading droplet style seen in traditional crystal chandeliers. What bulb does the Melden take?

The fitting takes four G9 capsule bulbs, each up to 33W maximum. G9 bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with LED G9 bulbs between 2.5-4W and 2700K-3000K for warm ambient light in a bedroom or hallway.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 18cm projection from ceiling to base makes the Melden well-suited to rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where pendant lights would hang too low or create a visual obstruction.

Does it require special ceiling fixing?

At 3.85kg the fitting needs secure mounting. If fixing directly into a ceiling joist or solid ceiling, standard screws into the joist will support the weight. On plasterboard ceilings without direct joist access, use appropriate toggle fixings rated for the weight.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow bulbs to cool. Wipe each crystal rod with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the metal frame or getting moisture into the bulb sockets.
