Description

The LumiLife DALI emergency pack is a constant-power LED driver module that converts maintained LED luminaires into self-contained emergency lighting with automatic self-testing. The unit provides a SELV (Safety Extra-Low Voltage) isolated output across a 3-200VDC range, allowing it to power a wide range of LED fittings at their rated emergency wattage for a minimum 3-hour duration during mains failure.

Designed for commercial, retail, hospitality and public buildings where Building Regulations require emergency lighting compliance, the pack fits inside ceiling voids or behind luminaire housings where there is clearance for its 270 x 68 x 38mm casing. The DALI control interface allows the unit to communicate with building management systems for centralised monitoring, reporting test results and fault alerts without manual intervention.

The constant-power topology maintains stable output wattage throughout the 3-hour emergency discharge cycle, preventing the LED output from fading as battery voltage drops. The self-test function runs automated function and duration tests at programmed intervals, logging results to DALI-compliant control systems. The IP20 enclosure is rated for Zone 3 bathroom use only (outside shower zones) and general indoor applications.

The unit weighs 0.65kg and requires a minimum clearance envelope of 280 x 75 x 45mm when allowing for cable connections and fixing lugs. Emergency output voltage is field-adjustable via internal DIP switches to match the connected LED load, with the module drawing from an internal NiMH or LiFePO4 battery pack (cell chemistry varies by model variant).

Frequently Asked

What is constant-power driver technology?

Constant-power means the unit maintains stable wattage output throughout the 3-hour emergency period, preventing the LED from dimming as battery voltage drops. This gives more consistent light levels compared to constant-current emergency packs.

Does it require manual testing?

No. The self-test function runs automated function tests (brief lamp illumination checks) and duration tests (full 3-hour discharge cycles) at programmed intervals. Test results are logged and can be accessed via the DALI control interface.

What output voltage range is available?

The unit provides SELV isolated output adjustable from 3VDC to 200VDC via internal DIP switches, allowing it to match most LED driver input voltages. Check the connected luminaire's emergency driver specification before configuring output voltage.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

Only in Zone 3 (areas outside 2.25m from the bath or shower). The IP20 rating is not suitable for Zone 0, 1 or 2 where water ingress is likely. For wet zones, specify an IP-rated emergency pack appropriate to the zone classification.
