Description
The Haldeen is a 40cm flush ceiling light built around a shallow bowl form densely packed with faceted Strass lead crystal beads, held within a decorative gold finished rim. Five BC (bayonet cap) bulbs sit inside the bowl, each rated up to 60W, casting light through the layered crystal to create refracted patterns across the ceiling and upper walls.
Designed for low-ceiling bedrooms, hallways, landings and corridor zones where a pendant would hang too low, the Haldeen provides ambient light without projection. The 20cm height allows installation in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards, where traditional chandeliers or pendants would dominate the vertical space. The flush backplate fixes directly to a standard UK ceiling rose, keeping the fitting tight to the ceiling plane.
Each crystal bead is cut to refract light at multiple angles, amplifying the brightness of the five bulbs and distributing it evenly across the room rather than directing it downwards in a focused beam. The gold rim provides a warm metallic accent that works with both traditional and warm contemporary interiors. The 3kg weight requires secure fixing to a joist or ceiling noggin rather than plasterboard alone.
The Strass lead crystal used in this fitting has a higher refractive index than standard glass, producing sharper prismatic effects when lit. The bayonet cap fitting accepts standard BC LED, halogen or filament bulbs (sold separately), giving control over colour temperature and brightness depending on the bulb choice.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Haldeen take?
The fitting takes five BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulbs, each rated up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 5-8W and 2700K-3000K to match the gold finish and achieve soft ambient lighting.
What ceiling height is needed?
The 20cm projection from the ceiling makes this suitable for rooms with ceiling heights from 2.2m upwards. It works particularly well in low-ceiling bedrooms, hallways and landing areas where a pendant would hang too low.
How is the crystal cleaned?
Switch off the power at the mains before cleaning. Use a dry microfibre cloth to dust the crystal beads. For deeper cleaning, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water can be used on individual beads, but avoid soaking the crystal or getting moisture into the lamp holders.
Does the 3kg weight require special fixing?
Yes. The 3kg weight requires the ceiling rose or backplate to be fixed into a ceiling joist or noggin, not just plasterboard. If your ceiling lacks a joist at the desired position, install a noggin between joists before fitting.
