Description

The Gessan is a single-light pendant or flush ceiling light built from polished chrome rods arranged in a tapered diamond frame, 28cm across and 59cm tall when suspended. The rods radiate from a chrome canopy at the top and converge at a pointed base, enclosing a single SES candle-style bulb fitting at the centre. The frame structure is open, with horizontal reinforcing rods at mid-height giving the diamond its geometric definition.

Designed for dual mounting, the Gessan can be installed as a short-drop pendant where ceiling height allows, or as a flush fitting in lower-ceilinged spaces such as hallways, landings, small bathrooms and bedrooms. The 59cm total height includes the suspension chain, which can be shortened during installation to sit the fitting closer to the ceiling. The open rod construction keeps visual mass low despite the physical size, making it suitable for narrow corridors and compact entrance halls.

The polished chrome finish provides high reflectivity under both natural and artificial light, amplifying the brightness of the single SES bulb inside. The symmetrical diamond profile works as a standalone feature above a console table or bedside unit, or in multiples spaced along a hallway to provide interval lighting. The 1.6kg weight requires secure ceiling fixing but does not need additional reinforcement on standard plasterboard ceilings with proper fixings.

Can this be installed as both a pendant and a flush fitting?

Yes. The Gessan is designed for dual mounting. As a pendant, the full 59cm height is used with the chain suspending the fitting from the canopy. As a flush fitting, the chain is removed or shortened so the frame sits closer to the ceiling, reducing the overall drop to suit low-ceilinged spaces.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a single SES (Small Edison Screw, E14 base) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED candle bulb in 2700K-3000K for a warm glow that suits hallways and bedrooms.

What ceiling height is needed for pendant installation?

For pendant installation with the full 59cm drop, a ceiling height of at least 2.4m is recommended to maintain comfortable head clearance below the fitting. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Gessan if the chain is shortened or if it is installed as a flush fitting instead.

Is the chrome finish suitable for bathrooms?

The Gessan does not carry an IP rating, so it is not certified for bathroom zones 1 or 2 where direct moisture contact is likely. It can be used in bathrooms outside the designated zones, typically more than 60cm from a bath or shower, where splashing is minimal.
