Description

The Essenra is a 50cm flush crystal ceiling light built around a gold plated frame with a hemispherical cascade of Strass lead crystal. Six BC (bayonet cap) bulb holders sit behind the crystal layer, each rated to 60W, with the light refracting through hundreds of individual crystal beads strung in concentric rows. The fitting projects 13cm from the ceiling and weighs 5kg once fully assembled.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m where a pendant or chandelier would hang too low, the Essenra works in bedrooms, hallways, dressing rooms and dining rooms that need decorative ceiling lighting without the drop. The 50cm diameter provides presence over a double bed or in a 3m-wide hallway without overwhelming the proportions of a smaller room. The gold plated base and fixings introduce warm metallic accents that pair with brass hardware, warm timber and traditional colour palettes.

Each crystal bead is hand-strung onto the metal framework, creating a tightly packed surface that catches ambient daylight during the day and refracts bulb light in the evening. The Strass lead crystal contains 30% lead oxide, giving it higher refractive index than standard glass and producing sharper light dispersion. The gold plating is applied to a steel base frame, providing structural support for the 5kg combined weight of frame and crystal. Installation requires a ceiling mount rated to at least 6kg and compatible with BC bulbs — LED BC bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) are recommended for best colour rendering with the gold finish.

Do not use chemical sprays or polishes on lead crystal.

What weight rating is needed for ceiling installation?

The complete fitting weighs 5kg. The ceiling mount and fixings must be rated to at least 6kg to provide a safety margin. Installation into plasterboard ceilings requires proper toggle fixings or mounting into a joist; installation into solid ceilings uses appropriate masonry fixings.
