Essenra 5 Light Strass Crystal Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Nickel

The Essenra is a 40cm diameter semi-flush ceiling light with a dome-shaped bowl filled with Strass lead crystal beads, set onto a nickel-plated metal frame with five BC (B22) bulb holders inside. The 24cm drop from ceiling to base sits between a flush fitting and a pendant, making it suitable for rooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for living rooms, dining rooms and hallways where both ambient light and decorative presence are needed, the Essenra fits UK ceiling roses and wires to standard mains. The five bulb positions distribute light outward through the crystal bowl, which refracts and scatters the light to reduce glare and create soft ambient illumination across the room. Each BC bulb can be up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or filament bulbs depending on the colour temperature and brightness required.

The nickel finish on the metal frame provides a cool-toned metallic surface that pairs with contemporary greys, whites and cooler palettes. The Strass crystal beads are machine-cut lead crystal with a 30% lead oxide content, giving higher refractive index and more pronounced rainbow dispersion than standard glass. The combined weight of the crystal and metal frame is 4kg, requiring a secure ceiling fixing into either a joist or a spread plate for masonry ceilings.

What bulbs does it take?

The Essenra takes five BC (B22 bayonet cap) bulbs, each up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-8W and 2700K-3000K for ambient living room or dining room lighting.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 24cm drop from ceiling to base makes this a semi-flush design suitable for standard 2.4m UK ceiling heights, where it leaves approximately 2.16m clearance beneath. For ceilings below 2.3m a flush-mount fitting would give more headroom.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs used. If you fit dimmable LED or halogen BC bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch, the fitting can be dimmed. The metal and crystal construction itself does not restrict dimming.

How is the crystal cleaned?

The Strass crystal beads can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth while the fitting is switched off and cool. For deeper cleaning, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the metal frame or letting water pool inside the bulb holders.
