Description
The Drift is an 11-light island chandelier with a 144cm linear chrome frame from which vertical chrome fins and tiered faceted crystal prisms hang in alternating sequence. Each of the eleven G9 bulb holders sits behind the crystal, projecting light through the faceted glass to create layered refraction across the fitting's 144cm length. The chrome canopy is rectangular and sits flush to the ceiling, with two suspension cables supporting the frame at equal intervals.
Designed for large kitchen islands and dining tables in open-plan layouts, the Drift requires a ceiling height of at least 2.6m to accommodate its 42cm drop plus suspension cable length. The 144cm width suits islands or tables between 180-240cm long, with the fitting typically positioned centrally and 75-85cm above the worktop or table surface. The linear geometry directs attention along the horizontal plane rather than radiating outward, making it particularly suited to rectangular dining and preparation zones.
The combination of polished chrome fins and faceted crystal creates high contrast when lit, the chrome reflects ambient light from windows and other fittings during the day, while the crystal prisms scatter direct bulb light in the evening. The 29kg weight requires secure ceiling fixings into joists or a reinforced ceiling rose rated for the load. Each chrome fin is machine-polished to a mirror finish that shows fingerprints during installation but reflects cleanly once in position.
The crystal elements are press-moulded acrylic rather than hand-cut glass, which reduces weight and allows the fitting to be shipped without individual wrapping of each prism. The faceting pattern replicates traditional cut crystal geometry, producing similar refractive effects at a fraction of the weight. The G9 bulbs are accessible from below by removing individual crystal tiers, no need to dismantle the entire frame for bulb replacement.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Drift take?
The fitting takes eleven G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. G9 LED bulbs between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K are the most common pairing for dining and kitchen island use, providing warm light without excessive heat.
What table or island length does this suit?
The 144cm width suits kitchen islands or dining tables between 180-240cm long. For shorter islands under 180cm the fitting may visually overpower the surface; for tables longer than 240cm a second chandelier or different lighting configuration may be needed.
Can the drop height be adjusted?
Yes. The suspension cables can be shortened during installation to suit ceiling height and desired drop above the worktop or table. The 42cm body height is fixed, but the cables allow the overall drop to be customised.
How is the crystal cleaned?
The faceted prisms are acrylic. Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the prisms and do not use glass cleaners containing ammonia or alcohol as these can cloud acrylic over time.
