Description

The Dexlan is a 41cm semi-flush ceiling light with a white alabaster glass bowl held by a satin nickel frame that curves outward from a shallow circular ceiling mount before descending into the bowl. Two ES (E27) bulbs inside the bowl (sold separately, max 60W each) diffuse through the alabaster to provide ambient light without direct glare.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m-2.5m where a full pendant drop would intrude, the Dexlan suits hallways, landings, bedrooms, walk-in wardrobes and utility rooms. The 35cm total projection from ceiling to base keeps the fitting clear of head height in typical residential installations while providing enough light coverage for a 3m x 3m space. The semi-flush mount fixes directly to a standard UK ceiling rose.

The alabaster bowl shows natural tonal variation and soft veining when lit, giving a warmer appearance than opal glass. The satin nickel finish on the metal frame resists fingerprints and pairs with chrome, brushed steel and stainless steel fittings commonly found in kitchens and bathrooms. The 3kg weight requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or suitable anchor in plasterboard ceilings.

What bulbs does it take?

The Dexlan takes two ES (E27) golf ball bulbs, each rated up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 6-10W LED golf bulbs at 2700K-3000K for bedroom or hallway use.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 35cm projection from ceiling to base works well in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m-2.5m, where a pendant would hang too low. The semi-flush mount keeps the fitting clear of doorways and head height.

Can it be installed in a bathroom?

The fitting carries no IP rating in the specification, which means it is not rated for bathroom zones 1 or 2 (areas near baths, showers or basins). It can be used in a bathroom provided it is installed outside zone 1 and zone 2 areas.

How is the alabaster bowl cleaned?

The bowl removes from the frame by unscrewing the base finial. Clean with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water. Avoid soaking the alabaster or using chemical sprays.
