Description

The Dawn is a semi-flush ceiling light built around a black metal cubic frame measuring 185mm square, with an opal glass globe suspended inside the frame. The frame sits flush to the ceiling on a square back plate, positioning the globe approximately 120mm below the ceiling line. The opal glass diffuses light from a single E27 bulb (sold separately), casting even illumination across the room while the open metal frame adds a geometric accent.

Designed for hallways, landings, bedrooms and low-ceiling spaces, the Dawn works in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.2-2.4m where a pendant would sit too low but a completely flush fitting would lack presence. The 185mm footprint is compact enough for narrow corridors and entrance halls without dominating the space. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor locations — this is not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor areas.

The black powder-coated metal frame has a matt finish that reduces glare from overhead lighting and pairs with both industrial and contemporary interiors. The opal glass globe is removable for bulb changes — unscrew the retention ring at the base of the frame to access the E27 socket. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible E27 LED bulb and dimmer switch, allowing output to be adjusted from bright task lighting to low-level ambient glow.

What bulb does it take?

The Dawn takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Most users pair it with a 6-10W warm white LED (2700-3000K) for ambient hallway or bedroom lighting. Maximum bulb wattage is typically 60W — check the rating label inside the fitting.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable-compatible. Dimming performance depends on pairing a dimmable E27 LED bulb with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Not all LED bulbs dim smoothly on all dimmer models, so test compatibility before final installation.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is only suitable for dry indoor locations. Bathrooms require a minimum IP44 rating for zones 1-3, and IP65 for zone 0 (shower enclosure). This fitting is designed for hallways, bedrooms and living areas only.

How is the globe removed for bulb changes?

The opal glass globe is held in place by a retention ring or clips at the base of the metal frame. Unscrew or release the retention mechanism to lower the globe, change the E27 bulb, then replace the globe and secure the ring. The globe does not need to be fully removed — just lowered enough to access the bulb socket.
