Description

The Borena is an 8-light chandelier built from looping clear Czech glass arms mounted on a polished chrome central column and canopy. Eight arms extend from a compact central hub and curve outwards before sweeping back upward, each arm terminating in a cylindrical clear glass shade housing a G9 bulb fitting. The arms are hollow clear glass tubes with chrome fixings at each connection point.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and stairwell voids, the Borena suits ceiling heights of 2.7m or above and rooms at least 3.5m square to accommodate the 75cm diameter spread without overpowering the space. The chandelier is ceiling-suspended on a chrome chain, with the main body sitting 75cm from canopy to base when hung at minimum drop. The eight G9 bulbs (sold separately) give a combined maximum output of 264W if run at the rated 33W per fitting, though most installations pair this with 3-5W LED capsule bulbs for ambient rather than task lighting.

The clear glass arms show the internal chrome support structure running through each tube, creating a visible framework when the chandelier is viewed from below or at close range. Each arm is hand-blown in the Czech Republic and the chrome finish on the canopy, central column and lamp holders is polished to a mirror-like reflectivity that catches both daylight and artificial light sources. At 12kg, the chandelier requires secure ceiling mounting into a joist or reinforced rose capable of bearing the weight.

What bulbs does the Borena take?

The chandelier takes eight G9 capsule bulbs, each rated to a maximum of 33W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use 3-5W LED G9 capsules in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient lighting rather than full-output halogen bulbs.

What ceiling height is needed?

The chandelier body measures 75cm from canopy to base at minimum drop. For a dining table installation, add at least 700mm clearance above the table surface, which requires a ceiling height of 2.7m or above. Stairwells and entrance halls with higher ceilings can accommodate a longer chain drop.

How is the chandelier mounted?

The 12kg weight requires ceiling mounting into a joist or a reinforced rose capable of bearing the load. The chrome chain is adjustable during installation to set the final drop height. Professional installation is recommended.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimming depends on the bulbs used. Dimmable LED G9 bulbs paired with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer will allow dimming. Non-dimmable LED bulbs or incompatible dimmer types will flicker or fail to dim smoothly.
