Description

The Allara is an 8-light crystal chandelier with a polished chrome canopy and three tiered rings of cut crystal droplets forming a 55cm diameter drum. Each tier holds a circular arrangement of crystal pieces that cascade down the 45cm height, with eight G9 bulb fittings positioned behind the innermost crystal tier. The chrome frame defines the cylindrical silhouette while the crystals refract ambient light and the bulb glow into a layered sparkle effect.

Designed for dining rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, entrance halls and double-height living spaces where vertical drop and diameter suit the room scale. The 55cm diameter works above dining tables seating 6-8, positioned 750-850mm above the table surface to clear sightlines while providing ambient downlight. The polished chrome canopy conceals the cable run and fits standard UK ceiling roses.

Each crystal tier is wired into the chrome frame rather than strung on loose chains, giving the structure stability and consistent spacing between the tiers. The combined weight of crystal and chrome totals 7.4kg, requiring secure ceiling mounting into a joist or reinforced fixing. The G9 bulb fittings accept capsule halogen or LED bulbs up to 33W maximum per fitting (bulbs sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and dimming compatibility.

The polished chrome finish shows reflections under daylight and conceals the internal wiring behind a mirrored surface. The crystal droplets are facet-cut rather than smooth, creating prismatic light scatter when lit. The Allara takes eight G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Maximum wattage is 33W per fitting. Most users pair this with 3-5W G9 LED bulbs in 2700K-3000K warm white to achieve ambient light without excessive heat or running cost.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 45cm drop from canopy to base of the crystal drum suits ceiling heights of 2.6m or above when hung over a dining table. For lower ceilings the chandelier may feel too close to the table surface once the recommended 750-850mm clearance above the table is factored in.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb type chosen. G9 LED bulbs are available in dimmable versions, but the specific LED driver must be compatible with your dimmer switch. Halogen G9 bulbs are universally dimmable but generate more heat and use more energy.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow bulbs to cool. Wipe crystal droplets with a dry microfibre cloth. For more stubborn dust or marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water can be used on the crystal, but avoid soaking the chrome fittings and wiring. Do not use spray cleaners or chemical polishes.
