Description
The Tides is an 85cm linear crystal suspension light with a matt black upper frame edged in brushed gold, beneath which rows of faceted crystal drops hang in graduated layers. Six E14 bulb fittings sit inside the frame (bulbs sold separately), casting light down through the crystal to create diffused illumination with controlled sparkle across a dining table or kitchen island.
Designed for installation above narrow islands, long dining tables and bar counters in kitchens, dining rooms and open-plan living spaces, the Tides provides directional ambient light rather than wide-area flood. The 85cm length suits islands between 1.5-2m and tables seating six, with the pendant typically installed 700-800mm above the surface depending on ceiling height. The slim suspension cables allow adjustment on installation to balance proportion to the room.
The matt black upper casing contrasts with the brushed gold edge trim, creating a defined horizontal line that anchors the fitting visually without the heaviness of a solid metal base. The crystal drops are cut to catch and diffuse light from the E14 bulbs above, scattering controlled reflections across the surface below without the harsher directional beam of a downlight. At 10kg the fitting requires secure ceiling fixing into a joist or rated ceiling hook — this is not a lightweight decorative piece.
The dual-finish frame pairs comfortably with both warm-toned interiors (oak, walnut, brass hardware) and cooler contemporary schemes (concrete, grey cabinetry, stainless steel). The matt black finish on the upper frame reduces reflections under daylight, while the brushed gold trim softens the transition to the crystal without the high polish of chrome or the antiqued patina of aged brass.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Tides uses six E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for a balanced light output that complements the gold trim and crystal.
What ceiling height is needed?
The 71cm drop from ceiling to the base of the crystal is adjustable on the suspension cables during installation. For a dining table or kitchen island the fitting typically sits 700-800mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above.
How is the crystal cleaned?
The faceted crystal drops attract dust and kitchen grease over time. Switch off the power, allow the bulbs to cool, and wipe each drop with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the metal frame or electrical connections.
Can it be dimmed?
Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs you choose. Use dimmable E14 LED bulbs and pair with a trailing-edge LED dimmer for best results. Check bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before purchase.
