Description

The Tides is a 460mm diameter crystal chandelier built around a circular matte black drum frame trimmed with a brushed gold outer edge. Five E14 bulb fittings sit above the frame, lighting tiered rows of faceted crystal drops that hang in concentric layers below. The crystal elements refract and scatter light from the bulbs, turning the fitting into both a light source and a reflective sculptural object.

Designed for dining tables, bedroom dressing areas and kitchen islands where ceiling heights allow a 510mm drop, the Tides suits rooms between 3m and 4.5m square. The suspension cables are adjustable on installation, allowing the fitting to hang 700-900mm above a table surface or lower over a kitchen counter. The compact 460mm diameter keeps the fitting proportionate to smaller dining tables and breakfast bars without losing the visual density of the crystal tiers.

The matte black finish on the drum absorbs light rather than reflecting it, while the brushed gold trim adds a warm metallic accent that ties the fitting to brass hardware, gold-toned mirrors and warm timber finishes. The crystal drops are cut glass rather than acrylic, giving sharper light refraction and a heavier tactile presence. The fitting has five E14 (small Edison screw) bulb holders. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs at 2700K or 3000K for warm ambient light that shows the crystal refraction clearly.

Can it be fitted to a plasterboard ceiling?

The Tides weighs 8.4kg. Plasterboard ceilings need either a cavity anchor rated for the weight or a spreader plate fixed to ceiling joists above the plasterboard. Standard ceiling roses on solid ceilings handle the load directly.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Switch off and allow bulbs to cool. Wipe each crystal drop with a dry microfibre cloth. For heavier dust build-up, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the metal frame or getting water into the bulb holders.
