Description
The TEAR R-TR is a recessed mains track that fits flush into the ceiling, giving a clean continuous channel for movable spotlights and heads. It runs on 220-240V AC mains, so no separate low-voltage transformer is needed, and spans 2000mm in length with a slim 58mm width and 36mm depth. In US terms a system like this is sold as track lighting, the conductor rail along which heads clip and slide to point light wherever it is wanted.
The track suits open-plan kitchens, hallways, galleries and retail or studio spaces where the lighting layout may need to change over time. Because the channel is recessed into the ceiling, only the heads sit proud, which keeps the look discreet on flat plasterboard ceilings. Coverage depends on the heads fitted rather than the track itself, so light can be aimed to wash a wall, pick out artwork or focus on a worktop, and heads can be repositioned along the full 2000mm as the room changes. This is for dry indoor use only at IP20, so keep it clear of bathrooms, porches and any damp or outdoor location.
Built from aluminium alloy weighing 1.81kg, the track is recess-mounted into the ceiling rather than surface fixed, with the conductor running the length of the channel for mains-voltage heads. The finish is white to blend with most ceilings. This track is part of the wider TEAR range, with matching components available to extend or reconfigure a run.

Frequently Asked
What is recessed track lighting and how does it work?
A track is a continuous electrified channel that carries power along its length, letting you clip in spotlights or heads wherever you need them. On this recessed version the channel sits flush in the ceiling so only the heads are visible. Heads draw power from the conductor inside the track.
How is this track installed?
It recesses into the ceiling rather than mounting on the surface, so a 2000mm channel is cut into the plasterboard and the track sits flush within it. It runs on 220-240V AC mains, so no separate transformer is required. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Can heads be added or moved later?
Yes. Compatible heads clip onto the track and slide along its full 2000mm length, so you can add, remove or reposition them as the layout changes. This makes it well suited to spaces where lighting needs may evolve over time.
Can this track be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor use only, so it should not be fitted outdoors, in porches or in bathrooms. Keep it clear of damp and wet locations.
