Description
The Taxi is a recessed LED step light that marks the edge of stairs and steps with a low, even glow. Running at just 0.6W on a 220-240V AC supply, it gives a focused 10 lumen output at a crisp 4000K cool white, enough to pick out a tread underfoot without dazzle. In US terms a recessed fitting like this is often called a low-level step or marker light, set flush into the wall beside a flight of steps. The compact 110 x 50 x 44 mm rectangular body sits neatly within the wall face so only the lit aperture shows.
Designed as a wayfinding light rather than ambient room lighting, it suits flights of stairs, garden steps, split-level landings and entrance approaches. The 10 lumen output is deliberately modest, throwing a soft pool across the tread directly below it rather than lighting a whole area, so a run of fittings spaced down a staircase gives safe footing after dark. With its IP54 rating it works in sheltered outdoor positions such as a porch or carport, and in damp indoor spots, though it is not built for fully exposed locations or direct water jets.
The body is metal in a chrome matte finish, recessed into the wall via a standard installation box. Rated IP54, it handles splashes and dust in covered settings, and the integrated LED is rated for 20,000 hours with a Ra 80 colour rendering. This fitting is non-dimmable and runs straight from mains voltage with no separate transformer needed. The Taxi range includes further recessed step lights to match across a project.

Frequently Asked
Does it need a 12V transformer or driver?
No. The Taxi runs directly from a 220-240V AC mains supply, so no separate transformer or low-voltage driver is required. You simply wire it into the mains circuit through a recessed installation box.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, in sheltered positions. Its IP54 rating handles splashes and dust, so it suits covered outdoor spots such as a porch, carport or recessed entrance. It is not rated for fully exposed locations, direct water jets or submersion.
How is it installed?
The Taxi is a recessed step light, set flush into the wall beside a flight of stairs or steps. The 110 x 50 x 44 mm body fits within a standard recessed box so only the lit face shows once mounted.
How do I keep it clean?
Wipe the lit aperture with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth to clear dust and marks. Avoid harsh solvents or abrasive pads on the chrome matte face, and switch the fitting off before cleaning.
