Description
The T8 LED Tube is a linear G13 lamp built to replace an old fluorescent strip tube of the same fitting. It draws 9 W yet stands in for a 65 W fluorescent, giving 900 lumens of 6500K daylight light across a wide 200 degree beam. In the US this two-pin linear format is the familiar tube light or T8 tube, and the G13 bi-pin cap twists into the same lampholders at each end of the fitting. The cool, bright daylight tone reads clean and neutral, useful where clear, even working light matters more than a warm domestic glow.
The wide 200 degree spread and 900 lumen output suit utility and task spaces such as garages, workshops, store rooms, plant rooms and under-stair cupboards, as well as ceiling battens in laundry and corridor runs. Because it is a linear tube rather than a downward spotlight, it washes light along its length rather than throwing a focused pool, which is why it works well over benches and shelving where you want broad coverage from end to end. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor use only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, porches and any outdoor or damp position.
Running at 100 lm/W, the 9 W tube is efficient over its rated 20,000 hour life and runs at 220 to 240 V AC. It uses a T8 LED light source on a G13 two-pin cap, in a white linear body measuring 28 mm across, weighing 84 g. Colour rendering is Ra 80 for accurate enough working light, and the lamp is non-dimmable. Check your existing fitting for ballast and starter arrangement before fitting, as many LED tubes require the original starter to be removed or the ballast bypassed. Our wider bulb range covers other caps and tones to match the rest of your fittings.

Frequently Asked
What fitting does this tube need?
It has a G13 two-pin cap, the standard fitting for a T8 linear tube. The two pins at each end twist into the lampholders of a matching T8 batten or fitting. It is a direct replacement for an old G13 fluorescent tube of the same length.
What old fluorescent tube does it replace?
The 9 W LED tube replaces a 65 W fluorescent tube while giving 900 lumens of light. The figure is an equivalence for output, not the power drawn, as the LED itself uses only 9 W. That makes it a far lower running cost than the fluorescent it stands in for.
Do I need to remove the starter or bypass the ballast?
Many LED tubes require the original fluorescent starter to be removed or the magnetic ballast to be bypassed before fitting. Check the wiring of your existing fitting and follow the supplied guidance before installing. If you are unsure, have the fitting checked by a qualified electrician.
Can I use it outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. The tube is rated IP20, which means it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, porches, garages with damp exposure and any outdoor location.
