Description

The Solara is an 840mm linear crystal island chandelier built around six G9 bulb fittings set within a grid of interlocking rectangular crystal blocks, suspended on twin chrome rods from an oval polished chrome canopy. Each crystal block is positioned to refract light from the G9 sources through the grid structure, scattering light across the ceiling and adjacent surfaces while the clear crystal faces direct light downward.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and breakfast bars where horizontal spread matters more than concentrated downlighting, the Solara's rectangular footprint of 840mm x 230mm suits island lengths from 1.8m to 2.4m when centred above the worktop. The 320mm body height and adjustable drop accommodate ceiling heights from 2.4m upward, with most installations positioning the base of the crystal grid 750-850mm above the island surface. The twin-rod suspension allows the light to hang level and stable without cable twist.

The chrome frame sharply defines the grid structure and creates high-contrast edges where the polished metal meets the clear crystal, giving the fitting a more architectural appearance than brass or gold equivalents. At 15kg the chandelier carries substantial weight, requiring secure ceiling fixings into joists or a rated ceiling rose capable of supporting the load. The crystal blocks are faceted on all sides, so the fitting presents well from multiple viewing angles in an open-plan kitchen or dining area where the light is visible from different room zones.

What bulbs does it take?

The Solara takes six G9 capsule bulbs, each up to 33W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with G9 LED bulbs in the 3-5W range at 2700K-3000K for warm white light, or 4000K for cooler white suitable to task lighting over kitchen islands.

What island length does it suit?

The 840mm length works above islands from 1.8m to 2.4m when centred. For islands shorter than 1.8m the light may appear disproportionately large; for islands longer than 2.4m consider pairing two Solaras or specifying a longer linear pendant.

How is it suspended?

The light hangs on twin chrome rods from an oval ceiling plate. The rods prevent the fitting from twisting and keep the crystal grid level. The drop is adjustable during installation, with most setups positioning the base 750-850mm above the island worktop.

Can the crystal blocks be removed for cleaning?

The crystal blocks are mounted onto the metal grid frame and are not designed for removal by the end user. To clean, switch off the circuit, allow bulbs to cool, then wipe each crystal face with a dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water, avoiding soaking or spraying liquid onto the fittings or electrical components.
