Description
This SMD LED strip is a flexible 5 metre reel of spaced SMD diodes, giving 900 lumens per metre at 11W per metre in a crisp daylight 6000K tone. Sold in the US as led tape light or a light strip, it bends around corners and along straight runs to put an even line of light wherever a fitting cannot reach. The strip cuts to length at marked points every 5cm, so a run can be trimmed to fit a shelf, a cabinet recess or a cove exactly. It runs on 12V DC, which means it is not mains-direct and needs a matching 12V LED driver (sold separately) rather than a plug straight into a wall socket.
With a high CRI of Ra90, this strip renders colours and surfaces accurately, which suits it to work areas and display where the daylight tone keeps detail sharp. It works well under kitchen wall units, along shelving, inside display cabinets and as a cove or perimeter run to wash a wall or ceiling line with light. Because it is rated IP00, keep it to dry indoor positions and clear of bathrooms, damp utility spaces and any outdoor location. Coverage is a continuous line rather than a pool, so plan the length needed for the run and trim at the 5cm cut points to suit.
The diodes sit on a flexible self-adhesive reel that can be routed around bends and fixed along a clean, dry surface. Drive is from an external 12V DC LED driver, specified to match the total wattage of the length being run, and longer runs may need feeding at both ends. Rated at 30,000 hours, it gives long service in fixed installations. The strip carries no IP coating, so it is suited to concealed, dry indoor detail lighting. This reel sits within our wider SMD strip range alongside drivers and connectors to complete an installation.

Frequently Asked
Does this LED strip need a driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it is not mains-direct and needs a matching 12V LED driver, sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you are running, allowing 11W for every metre of strip.
Can the strip be cut to length, and where?
Yes. The strip can be trimmed to fit and cuts only at the marked cut points, which fall every 5cm along the reel. Always cut on the marked line so the diode sections stay complete and powered.
Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. This strip is rated IP00 with no protective coating, so it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, damp utility areas and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor position.
How do I clean the strip?
Switch it off and let it cool, then wipe gently along its length with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth. Avoid soaking it or using solvents, as the strip carries no IP coating and water must be kept clear of the diodes and connections.
