Description

The PowerMaster 6-sided wall lantern combines a traditional hexagonal glass enclosure with a built-in PIR motion sensor, mounted on a white powder-coated aluminium bracket. The six clear glass panels sit within a white metal frame topped with a decorative finial, and the PIR sensor embedded in the base triggers the light when movement is detected within an 8-metre range across a 120-degree arc.

Designed for front doors, porches, pathways and garage entrances where automatic lighting improves security and convenience, the lantern activates when someone approaches and switches off after a set period of no movement. The IP43 rating protects against rain and dust in typical outdoor locations, though it should not be used in areas exposed to direct heavy water spray or full-force weather. The lantern mounts to an exterior wall via a back plate and requires mains wiring to a standard UK lighting circuit.

The white finish on the aluminium frame and bracket suits both period and modern exteriors, pairing with white window frames, painted render, and stone or brick facades. The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W, sold separately — most users fit a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to create a welcoming glow that activates on approach. The combined weight of 1.04kg requires secure fixing into brick or masonry; plasterboard or render-only walls need appropriate anchors or backing.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W, sold separately. Most users pair it with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W for efficient, long-life operation with PIR use.

How does the PIR sensor work?

The integrated motion sensor detects movement within an 8-metre range across a 120-degree detection arc. When triggered, the light switches on and remains lit for a preset duration before switching off automatically when no further movement is detected.

Can it be used in all outdoor locations?

The IP43 rating provides protection against rain and dust in typical outdoor installations such as covered porches, pathways and garage entrances. It should not be used in fully exposed locations subject to heavy direct water spray or extreme weather conditions. The specification lists it as suitable for Zone 3 only.

How is it mounted?

The lantern mounts to an exterior wall via a back plate that fixes with screws into brick, masonry or suitable anchors. The 1.04kg weight requires secure fixing — plasterboard or render-only walls need appropriate wall plugs or backing support.
