Description

The PowerMaster 4-sided PIR wall lantern pairs a traditional coach-style aluminium housing with a built-in passive infrared motion sensor. The black powder-coated frame holds four clear glass panels around an ES (E27) bulb fitting, and the sensor triggers the light when movement is detected within an 8-metre range across a 120-degree arc.

Designed for front doors, side gates, porches and garden walls where automatic security lighting is needed, the lantern sits on a mounting bracket that positions it away from the wall surface to allow clearance for the downward-facing sensor housing. The IP43 rating protects against solid objects above 1mm and water spray from any angle up to 60° from vertical, making it suitable for covered or semi-exposed locations such as doorways under eaves or recessed porches.

The aluminium construction resists corrosion in typical UK coastal and urban environments, and the black finish absorbs rather than reflects daylight to reduce daytime visibility. The ES lampholder accepts standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to the fitting's maximum wattage (see Specification), giving control over colour temperature and brightness. The sensor's detection range and dwell time are typically adjustable via controls on the sensor unit, allowing the light to remain on for 10 seconds to 10 minutes after the last detected movement.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take?

The lantern uses a standard ES (E27 Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations pair this with a warm-white LED between 6W and 12W to balance light output with energy consumption.

Can the PIR sensor be adjusted?

PIR sensors on PowerMaster lanterns typically include adjustable dwell time (how long the light stays on after detecting movement) and sometimes sensitivity controls. Refer to the installation instructions included with the fitting for specific adjustment options on this model.

Is it suitable for fully exposed outdoor locations?

The IP43 rating provides protection against water spray but not against sustained rain or direct water jets. This lantern is best installed under a porch overhang, beneath eaves, or in recessed doorways rather than on fully exposed walls open to driving rain.

What is the detection range and angle?

The PIR sensor detects movement up to 8 metres away across a 120-degree horizontal arc. The sensor is typically positioned to point downwards and outwards from the wall, so the detection zone covers approaches to the door or gate where the lantern is mounted.
