Description

This is a standalone PIR (passive infrared) motion sensor, decoded from the article code ALER N-B/B as an IP65, 120mm black unit. It detects body heat moving across its field and switches connected lighting on automatically, then off again after a set delay. It wires inline on a 220-240V AC mains supply and is built from black plastic, measuring 120 by 80 by 52mm.

The IP65 rating means it is sealed against dust and water jets, so it suits sheltered and exposed outdoor positions such as porches, driveways, garages and pathways, as well as indoor utility areas. Mount it at a height that gives a clear view of the approach you want covered, with adjustable time and ambient-light settings letting you tune how long the light stays on and the darkness level at which it activates. We also stock further PIR motion and daylight sensors to suit different load ratings and detection ranges.

Frequently Asked

What is the detection range and angle?

As a PIR sensor, it detects body heat moving across its field of view to trigger connected lighting. Mount it facing the approach you want to cover and at the recommended height so the detection zone reaches across the area, then adjust the position to fine-tune coverage.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes. It carries an IP65 rating, which seals it against dust and low-pressure water jets, so it is suitable for sheltered and exposed outdoor locations as well as indoor use. Site it where it stays out of standing water.

Can the time and light level be adjusted?

Yes. The sensor has adjustable settings for the time delay, which controls how long the light stays on after the last movement, and the ambient light level, which sets how dark it needs to be before the sensor activates.

How is it wired?

It runs on a 220-240V AC mains supply and is wired inline between the supply and the lighting it controls, so the sensor switches the load on detected movement. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
