Description
The Norden is a 9-light spiral crystal chandelier with a gunmetal metal frame and tiered crystal prisms arranged in a downward twist, spanning 35cm diameter and 91cm total drop. Nine SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulb holders sit within the frame, each supporting up to 40W, with the crystal drops acting as light diffusers and reflectors around each bulb.
Designed for hallways, stairwells with ceiling clearances of 2.5m or higher, and dining rooms where the fixture can hang centrally without dominating floor space, the Norden pairs the visual mass of a traditional chandelier with the compact footprint needed for narrower rooms. The flush-to-semi-flush mounting keeps the top tier close to the ceiling, with the spiral extending downwards rather than outwards. The gunmetal finish provides a dark, low-reflectance backdrop that lets the crystal prisms catch and scatter light without competing metallic shine.
The crystal prisms are cut in rectangular bar form and suspended on metal pins in three descending tiers, creating a helical pattern when viewed from below. Each tier offsets from the one above, so the spiral reads clearly in plan view. The 12kg weight requires a ceiling joist or reinforced fixing point capable of carrying the combined load of the metal frame, crystal elements and nine fitted bulbs. The gunmetal finish works with both warm-toned interiors (pairing with walnut, aged brass, terracotta) and cooler schemes (grey, charcoal, slate, concrete).

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Norden take?
The chandelier takes nine SES (E14 small Edison screw) bulbs, each rated up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K to balance light output with energy efficiency and reduce heat on the crystal.
What ceiling height is needed?
The 91cm drop requires a ceiling height of at least 2.5m to maintain 1.9m clearance below the lowest crystal tier for comfortable passage underneath. Higher ceilings in stairwells or double-height hallways allow the spiral form to be appreciated from multiple floor levels.
Is the gunmetal finish matt or gloss?
The gunmetal is a low-sheen dark grey-black finish, closer to satin than high-gloss. It provides contrast against the crystal without creating bright metallic reflections that would compete with the prisms for visual attention.
How is the crystal cleaned?
Switch off and allow bulbs to cool completely. Wipe each crystal prism with a dry microfibre cloth, working from top to bottom tier. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but dry immediately to avoid water spots. Do not use sprays or chemical cleaners on the crystal.
