Description
The MARIN is a round recessed downlight that takes a single MR16 lamp on a Gx5.3 cap, running at 12V (AC or DC) and rated to a maximum of 10W. Known in US terms as a recessed can light, this is a compact trim that drops into the ceiling rather than projecting below it. It measures Ø85mm with a 37mm body depth, giving a neat fitting that suits closely spaced installs. The light source is supplied separately, so the beam angle and colour temperature follow the MR16 lamp you pair with it.
Recessed downlights like the MARIN work well in kitchens, hallways and bathrooms, set out across a ceiling in a regular grid to wash a room evenly. Its IP44 splash rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones and sheltered, covered spots such as a porch or carport soffit, though it should be kept clear of direct water jets and fully exposed positions. As a single low-wattage spot it serves as part of a wider layout rather than a sole room light, so plan several across the space to suit your ceiling.
The MARIN is built from steel with a white finish and a round profile, weighing 100g. It carries an IP44 rating on the front face and recesses into the ceiling on its Mounting arrangement. Running on 12V, it needs a transformer to step mains down to low voltage, and the lamp is specified separately. The Gx5.3 holder accepts a standard MR16 lamp, which can be swapped over time as your preferences change.

Frequently Asked
What size cut-out hole does it need?
The MARIN has an overall diameter of Ø85mm, with a body depth of 37mm. The cut-out is the hole the fitting drops into and sits just inside the outer trim, so check the supplied template before drilling and allow clearance above the ceiling for the body and lamp.
Does it need a transformer?
Yes. The MARIN runs at 12V (AC or DC), so it requires a transformer or driver to step mains voltage down to low voltage. Size the transformer to the total load of the lamps connected to it.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
Its IP44 splash rating suits bathroom zones and sheltered, covered outdoor spots such as a porch or carport. It should not be fitted in fully exposed positions or anywhere subject to direct water jets or submersion.
How do I clean it?
Switch off the supply and let the lamp cool, then wipe the white steel trim with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents, which can mark the finish.
