Description

The HiveGlow is a 5-light flush chandelier with a 50cm diameter chrome ceiling plate and 200cm of cascading crystal strands forming a tapered column. The crystal hangs in looped tiers from the flush-mounted plate, narrowing from a wide upper section to a point at the base. Five GU10 LED bulbs (sold separately) sit within the top section behind the crystal, casting light through the faceted strands to create refractive patterns on nearby walls and ceilings.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.0m where a traditional suspension chandelier would hang too low, the HiveGlow delivers the visual presence of a large chandelier without the drop height. The 200cm cascade suits double-height hallways, living rooms and dining rooms where vertical space is available but a pendant would interfere with sightlines or clearance. The flush mount fits standard UK ceiling roses and the 11kg weight requires secure ceiling fixings on a joist or spreader plate.

The crystal is fine-cut glass formed into individual droplets and beads strung on near-invisible wire, creating the appearance of a suspended waterfall when viewed from below. The chrome finish on the ceiling plate is polished rather than brushed, reflecting ceiling-level light and amplifying the brightness from the five bulbs. The tapered profile means the chandelier occupies minimal space at eye level while maintaining dramatic length, making it suitable for positioning above a dining table or in a narrow hallway without obstructing movement.

What ceiling height does it need?

The 200cm drop works best in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.0m. In a 2.4m room the base of the crystal cascade finishes around 40cm from the floor, giving clearance for movement underneath. Higher ceilings allow the full cascade to be appreciated from below.

Does it come with bulbs?

No. The fitting takes five GU10 LED bulbs up to 6W each, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white 3000K LEDs for ambient dining and living room light.

How is the 11kg weight supported?

The flush plate must be fixed into a ceiling joist or onto a spreader plate spanning multiple joists. The 11kg load cannot be safely supported by plasterboard fixings alone. Professional installation is recommended.

Can the cascade length be shortened?

The crystal strands are pre-assembled at 200cm and cannot be shortened without compromising the tapered form and structural integrity of the cascade. For lower ceilings, consider a shorter flush chandelier design.
