Description
The Ecliptus is a 5-metre LED strip light running on 24V DC, delivering 15W of 4000K cool white light through surface-mounted LEDs encased in a silicone coating. The IP65 rating protects the strip from dust ingress and water jets, making it suitable for outdoor pathways, garden features, under-eave installation, and wet-environment interiors such as bathrooms and kitchens.
Designed for task lighting, architectural accent and perimeter illumination, the strip can be cut to length at marked intervals and is dimmable when paired with a compatible 24V LED dimmer and driver (both sold separately). The 4000K colour temperature sits between warm white and daylight, providing neutral task light that doesn't skew colour perception in kitchens, workshops or retail display cases. The 10mm profile allows the strip to fit into narrow channels and under cabinet lips where larger rope lights cannot.
The silicone coating diffuses the individual LED points into a continuous line of light and provides the IP65 water resistance. Installation uses double-sided adhesive backing on the strip itself, though supplementary cable ties or mounting clips are recommended for outdoor runs exposed to wind. The strip must be powered by a 24V DC driver rated for at least 15W — mains voltage cannot be applied directly.
From Ideal Lux, an Italian manufacturer established in 1962 and specialising in LED lighting for residential, hospitality and commercial environments. The Ecliptus carries a 5-year warranty covering LED failure and driver compatibility issues when used within rated specifications.

Frequently Asked
What power supply does the Ecliptus need?
The strip requires a 24V DC LED driver rated for at least 15W. Mains 230V AC cannot be connected directly to the strip. The driver is sold separately and must be sized to match the total wattage if multiple strips are connected in parallel.
Can the strip be cut to shorter lengths?
Yes. LED strips typically have cutting marks at regular intervals (usually every 50-100mm) where the strip can be cut with scissors. Only cut at the marked points to avoid damaging the circuit. Once cut, the strip cannot be rejoined without soldering.
Is the strip dimmable?
Yes, when used with a compatible 24V LED dimmer installed between the driver and the strip. Not all LED dimmers work reliably with all LED strips — check compatibility before purchasing a dimmer.
Can it be used outdoors?
The IP65 rating protects the strip from rain, hose spray and dust, making it suitable for outdoor installation under eaves, in garden features and along pathways. The strip should not be submerged in water (which requires IP68), and the driver must be housed in a separate IP-rated enclosure or installed indoors.
