Description

The Cooper is an IP54-rated outdoor LED wall light with an integrated PIR motion sensor, housing a 20W 3000K LED module that outputs 1700 lumens across a 120-degree beam. The matt black die-cast housing measures 170mm wide by 160mm high with a 178mm projection from the wall, and the sensor can be adjusted to detect motion within a typical 8-10 metre range depending on mounting height and environment.

Designed for front doors, side gates, garage entrances and garden pathways, the Cooper provides security lighting that activates only when movement is detected, reducing energy waste compared to dusk-to-dawn fixtures. The 1700lm output at 3000K gives warm white light bright enough to illuminate a 3-4 metre radius around the fitting, suitable for identifying visitors at a doorway or lighting a path without harsh glare. The IP54 rating protects the internal LED and sensor against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for exposed UK weather.

The die-cast housing withstands impact better than injection-moulded plastic equivalents and the matt black finish resists showing fingerprints or surface marks during cleaning. The sensor sensitivity and duration settings are adjustable via controls on the fitting itself, allowing the light to remain on for 10 seconds to several minutes after the last detected movement. The 200-240V mains input accepts standard UK outdoor wiring with no transformer needed.

Frequently Asked

Can the sensor detection range and timer be adjusted?

Yes. The Cooper has adjustable controls for both sensor sensitivity and the duration the light remains on after detecting movement. These are typically accessed via small adjustment dials on the fitting itself once installed.

Is this suitable for use in exposed coastal weather?

The IP54 rating provides protection against dust and water splashes, making it suitable for most UK outdoor conditions including rain. However, IP54 does not guarantee protection against high-pressure water jets or submersion, so mounting under a slight overhang extends the lifespan in particularly exposed coastal locations.

Can the PIR sensor be disabled to use the light as a standard on/off fixture?

This depends on the specific model. Some PIR-equipped fittings allow the sensor to be overridden or disabled via the control settings, while others are designed to operate in sensor mode only. Check the control panel on the fitting or contact us to confirm before purchase if this feature is required.

What mounting surface is required?

The Cooper mounts to standard external walls (brick, render, timber cladding) using the supplied back plate. The 1.3kg weight requires secure fixings into solid substrate — on hollow walls or timber cladding use appropriate wall plugs or screws to support the load.
