Description
The Apus is a recessed LED step light that drops flush into the wall to mark stairs and skirting lines at low level. It draws just 0.8W on a 12V DC supply and gives a soft 13 lumen warm white glow at 3000K, so it works as a marker rather than a task or room light. Across the Atlantic this style of low-level marker is the same fitting US buyers look for under the step light label, and the square 75 by 75 mm face keeps the footprint neat against a riser or wall base.
Indoor stairways, landings, hallways and the lower walls of media rooms suit the Apus, where a low warm point of light guides the foot without flooding the space. Because it puts out only 13 lumens it is not ambient room lighting, so think of it as edge and route marking rather than coverage of a floor area: a line of these spaced along a staircase reads as a gentle string of warm markers underfoot. Mount it at riser or skirting height so the light washes down onto the tread below. It runs on 12V DC, so a low-voltage driver or transformer feeds the run.
Built from polished stainless steel with a plastic body, the Apus measures 75 by 23 by 75 mm and weighs 84 g. It is rated IP20, which makes it a dry indoor fitting only, so keep it clear of bathrooms, porches and any outdoor or damp setting. The fixed warm white 3000K output has a CRI of Ra 80 and a rated life of 50,000 hours, and the unit is not dimmable. It recesses into the wall for a near-flush finish, with the stainless steel face left on show. We stock other fittings in the Apus range for matched low-level lighting through a stairway or hallway.

Frequently Asked
Does the Apus need a 12V transformer or driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC rather than mains, so it must be fed from a low-voltage driver or transformer rated for the total load of the run. Size the driver to cover every fitting on the circuit, allowing for the 0.8W each Apus draws.
Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. The Apus is rated IP20, which means dry indoor use only, so keep it out of bathrooms, porches and any outdoor or damp location. Use it for internal stairs, landings and hallways where it stays away from water and weather.
How is it installed?
It recesses into the wall for a near-flush face, so a suitable opening is needed at riser or skirting height. Mounting it low on the wall lets the warm light wash down onto the tread or floor below.
How should the steel face be cleaned?
Wipe the polished stainless steel face with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it off to avoid water marks. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh solvents, which can scratch or dull the finish over time.
