Description

This addressable LED strip puts each diode under individual control, so a compatible controller can drive chasing, sequenced and dynamic RGB effects rather than a single fixed glow. Often sold as a digital or pixel led strip, it carries full RGB colour and draws up to 16W per metre across a 5 metre reel. In the United States this format is known as a digital led tape light, and the per-pixel addressing is what separates it from a plain colour-changing strip. It runs from a 24V DC supply, so the whole run is fed at 24 volts rather than mains.

Use it for cove and ceiling outlines, under-cabinet runs, stair edges, signage and feature walls where movement and colour animation are the point. Because it is RGB and pixel-addressable, treat it as a decorative and effect light rather than a source of ambient room brightness, and plan the coverage by run length and viewing line rather than by floor area. The IP65 rating means it copes with damp and exposed outdoor positions too, so the same reel suits sheltered patios, garden features and pergola edges as readily as indoor coves.

The strip is built on a flexible reel and cuts to length only at the marked points, every 6.25 cm, so a run can be sized to fit. It needs a matching 24V DC driver and a compatible digital controller, neither of which is the mains supply, so do not connect it straight to a wall socket. The IP65 coating gives weatherproof protection for wet and outdoor locations, and the diodes are rated for around 30,000 hours. Our range also includes plain single-colour and tunable-white strips, plus the drivers and controllers to run them.

Frequently Asked

Does it need a driver and what voltage?

Yes. This is a 24V DC strip, so it must be powered through a matching 24 volt LED driver, not connected directly to the mains. It also needs a compatible digital controller to manage the addressable RGB effects. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run at 16W per metre.

Can it be cut to length, and where?

Yes. The reel cuts only at the marked cut points, which fall every 6.25 cm along the strip. Cutting at any other position will break the circuit for that section, so always trim on the printed line.

Can it be used outdoors or in damp areas?

Yes. It is rated IP65, which makes it weatherproof and suitable for exposed outdoor and wet locations. That covers sheltered patios, garden features, pergola edges and similar damp settings, as well as indoor coves and cabinets.

What does addressable RGB actually do?

Each diode or segment is controlled individually by a compatible controller, so the strip can run chasing, sequenced and dynamic colour effects rather than lighting as one solid colour. It carries full RGB, so it changes colour as well as animating. A static single-white strip cannot do this.
