Description
This Knightsbridge 45A 1-gang double-pole switch provides isolation for cookers and high-load cooking appliances, with a red neon LED indicator that shows when the circuit is live. The polished chrome faceplate is cut from 304 stainless steel and finished to a mirror shine, with rounded edges that sit flush against the wall.
Designed for kitchens, utility rooms and commercial catering spaces, the switch handles loads up to 45A (10,350W) at 230V 50Hz, making it suitable for electric cookers, ranges, and multiple smaller cooking appliances wired to the same circuit where the combined load stays within the 45A rating. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, providing safer isolation during appliance maintenance or cleaning.
The built-in gasket around the rear of the faceplate creates a seal against uneven plaster or painted surfaces, preventing gaps forming between the plate and wall over time. The 304 stainless steel construction resists corrosion in high-humidity kitchen environments better than brass or zinc-alloy alternatives. The neon LED sits behind a red aperture at the top of the switch rocker, visible in daylight and low-light conditions to confirm at a glance whether the cooker circuit is energised.
The switch requires a minimum 47mm back box depth for installation. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor locations but not for direct splash zones or outdoor use.

Frequently Asked
What appliances can this switch control?
The 45A rating suits electric cookers, ranges, and combined cooking appliances where the total load does not exceed 45A (10,350W) at 230V. It is commonly used as the primary isolation switch for a dedicated cooker circuit.
What does the neon LED indicate?
The red neon LED lights when the circuit is live and the switch is in the 'on' position. It does not indicate whether an appliance is drawing current, only whether the circuit is energised.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate projects approximately 12.7mm from the wall once fitted.
Is the switch screwless?
No. The polished chrome faceplate uses visible fixing screws at top and bottom. Knightsbridge does offer screwless variants in other ranges if a screwless finish is required.
