Description
The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang DP lockable socket features a key-operated lock mechanism that restricts access to the socket, preventing unauthorised use of the outlet. A neon indicator sits above the outlet aperture, glowing red when the circuit is live, providing quick visual confirmation of power status without needing to test with an appliance. The socket carries a 13A rating at 230V on a double-pole switching configuration that isolates both live and neutral lines when locked off.
Designed for public spaces, shared corridors, communal laundries, meeting rooms and areas where appliance use needs to be controlled, the lockable socket prevents casual or accidental use of high-draw equipment. The key lock mechanism includes two keys, allowing one to be held by facilities management or maintenance staff while a spare is kept secure. The white thermoset resin faceplate provides impact resistance and heat stability suitable for high-traffic environments.
The socket requires a minimum 35mm back box depth for installation and projects 9.1mm from the wall once fitted. The neon indicator draws negligible power and operates independently of the socket's load, so it remains lit whenever the circuit is energised, even if the key lock is in the off position. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for dry indoor environments but not for wet rooms or outdoor use.

Frequently Asked
How does the lock mechanism work?
The key lock rotates between on and off positions, physically blocking access to the socket when in the off position. Two keys are supplied — typically one is held by maintenance or facilities staff, and one is kept as a spare. The socket cannot be used when locked off, even if the circuit is live.
What does the neon indicator show?
The neon glows red whenever the circuit is energised, regardless of whether the key lock is in the on or off position. This provides a quick visual check that power is reaching the socket, useful for confirming circuit status during maintenance or fault-finding.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed. The socket projects 9.1mm from the wall once installed, with a total depth of 37.2mm including the recessed portion that sits inside the back box.
Can it be used in bathrooms or outdoors?
No. The IP20 rating means the socket is suitable only for dry indoor environments. For wet rooms, bathrooms or outdoor installations, a higher IP-rated socket is required.
