Description

The Eveready 50W LED PIR floodlight combines a fixed 50W LED array with a passive infrared motion sensor in a black die-cast aluminium housing rated IP44. The integrated LED produces 5000 lumens at 4000K cool white, with a 120-degree beam angle that spreads light across driveways, side passages, rear gardens and building perimeters. The PIR sensor detects movement within its range and activates the light automatically, switching off after a set period to reduce wasted energy.

Designed for residential and light commercial outdoor security lighting, the floodlight mounts on walls or under eaves using the included quick-fix bracket. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects over 1mm and water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for most UK outdoor locations except those exposed to direct high-pressure jets. The PIR sensor typically has adjustable time, lux and range settings on the rear of the unit, allowing the light to be tuned to activate only after dark or to ignore small animals passing through the detection zone.

The black powder-coated aluminium body measures 240mm high by 245mm wide with a 44mm projection from the wall when mounted. At 710g the unit is light enough to fix to cavity walls without additional reinforcement. The 4000K colour temperature sits between warm residential lighting (2700-3000K) and commercial/industrial lighting (5000-6500K), providing a neutral white that renders colours accurately without the yellow cast of warmer LEDs. The non-dimmable LED array is rated for 25,000 hours of operation at 50W continuous draw.

Frequently Asked

Can the PIR sensor settings be adjusted?

Most PIR floodlights in this category include adjustable time, lux and range controls on the rear of the sensor unit. These allow you to set how long the light stays on after detecting movement, whether it activates only after dark, and how far the detection zone extends. Consult the instruction leaflet supplied with the unit for the exact controls on this model.

Is it suitable for coastal or high-exposure locations?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashing from any direction but not against prolonged rain ingress or high-pressure jets. In exposed coastal locations or areas subject to driving rain, a higher IP rating (IP65 or IP66) would provide better long-term protection against moisture ingress.

What mounting height works best for PIR detection?

PIR sensors typically perform best when mounted 2-3 metres above ground level, angled slightly downwards. This height allows the sensor to detect human movement across the detection zone without being triggered by small animals or ground-level debris. Mounting too high reduces sensitivity; mounting too low increases false triggers.

Can it be used in bathroom zones?

The specification table indicates suitability for Zones 3, 2 and 1 only, not Zone 0. This means it can be used outside a bath or shower enclosure (Zones 1-3) but not inside the enclosure itself (Zone 0). For outdoor installation, bathroom zone ratings are not relevant.
