Description
The Energizer 20W LED PIR Floodlight delivers 2400 lumens of 6500K daylight-temperature output through an integrated LED behind a toughened glass lens. A passive infrared (PIR) sensor mounted below the floodlight head detects motion within a typical 8-10m range and switches the light on automatically, making it suitable for driveways, side returns, rear gardens and commercial yard perimeters where security lighting is needed without manual switching.
The floodlight body is die-cast aluminium finished in matt black, with an IP44 rating against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for installation under eaves, on gable ends, or on brick walls facing gardens and car parks where the fitting is not directly exposed to driving rain or hose jets. The quick-mount bracket on the rear allows the floodlight to tilt up or down on installation, directing the beam onto paths, doorways or parking areas as needed.
The 6500K colour temperature produces a cool blue-white light closer to midday sun than the warmer 3000K found in most indoor fittings, which gives sharper contrast and better visibility at distance for security applications. The 20W power draw replaces approximately 150-180W of halogen floodlight output, reducing running costs where the light is triggered frequently. The PIR sensitivity and timer duration are typically adjustable via controls on the sensor unit, allowing the fitting to be tuned to the specific detection range and lighting duration needed for each installation.

Frequently Asked
What is the PIR detection range?
Most PIR floodlights in this class detect motion within 8-10 metres, with the sensor covering a cone-shaped detection zone in front of the fitting. The exact range and sensitivity depend on the installation height and angle, and many models include adjustable sensitivity controls on the sensor unit.
Can the floodlight be used in bathrooms or wet areas?
No. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction but not direct jets or full immersion. IP44 is suitable for outdoor use under eaves or on walls where the fitting is not directly exposed to driving rain, but it does not meet the IP65 or IP67 requirements for wet-room zones or areas subject to hose-down cleaning.
How long does the light stay on after detecting motion?
PIR floodlights typically include an adjustable timer control on the sensor unit, allowing the on-duration to be set between 10 seconds and several minutes. Check the sensor housing for a dial or switch marked 'TIME' or similar — consult the packaging or manual for the specific timer range on this model.
What wattage halogen floodlight does this replace?
The 2400 lumen output is roughly equivalent to a 150-180W halogen floodlight, depending on the specific halogen model and reflector design. The LED uses approximately 90% less energy for a comparable light output.
