Description
The Dali is a 2-light outdoor wall light built from 304 grade stainless steel with a grey powder-coated finish. Two GU10 fittings inside a cylindrical body cast light both upwards and downwards through vertical ribbed slits in the backing plate, creating dual wash-light effects against the wall and ground. The IP44 rating protects against rain and moisture ingress, making the fitting suitable for exterior walls, covered patios, garden boundaries and front entrances exposed to typical UK weather.
Designed for residential and light commercial outdoor use, the Dali mounts flush to brick, render, timber cladding or stone walls with standard wall fixings. The 260mm height and 100mm projection suit vertical surfaces where a mid-scale fitting is needed without overwhelming narrower walls or doorway surrounds. The dual-directional light output is useful for highlighting architectural features above and below the fitting, such as coping stones, lintels or paving detail, and provides functional illumination along paths and entrance areas after dark.
The ribbed backplate is formed from a single pressing of stainless steel, creating alternating grooves and ridges that add surface texture while keeping the overall form minimal. The grey powder coat provides corrosion resistance beyond the stainless steel substrate and presents a neutral mid-tone that pairs with both modern render finishes and traditional brick or stone. The cylinder body shields the GU10 bulbs from direct view, reducing glare when approaching the fitting at eye level. Each GU10 socket accepts bulbs up to 8W, typically LED, with most users choosing 2700K-3000K warm white to soften the exterior light colour against cooler daylight.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. This makes the Dali suitable for most exterior wall positions including those exposed to rain, but it should not be installed in locations where it will be submerged or subjected to high-pressure water jets. Covered porches, open patios and garden walls facing typical UK weather conditions are all appropriate applications.
What bulbs does it take?
The Dali takes two GU10 bulbs, each up to 8W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit warm white LED GU10 bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor accent and path lighting. Dimmable GU10 LEDs can be used if the wall switch is replaced with a compatible dimmer.
How is the light directed?
One GU10 fitting directs light upwards, the other downwards. The ribbed backplate channels the light through vertical slits, creating wash-light effects against the wall surface above and below the fitting. This illuminates architectural detail and provides functional light along paths and entrances without direct glare from the bulbs.
Can it be mounted on timber cladding?
Yes. The Dali can be fixed to brick, render, stone or timber-clad walls using appropriate wall plugs and screws. On timber cladding, ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound and that any cable entry points are sealed to maintain the wall's weather barrier.
