Description
The Chapel is a downward-facing outdoor wall lantern with a black die-cast aluminium frame, clear glass panels and a single E27 bulb fitting housed under a pagoda-style roof. The coach lantern silhouette pairs a squared body with turned detailing on the wall bracket and finial, finished in a black powder coat that resists corrosion and UV fade.
Designed for porch entrances, garage doorways and garden pathway lighting, the Chapel projects 297mm from the wall and casts light downward through clear glass onto the ground below. The IP44 rating protects the fitting from rain and dust ingress in exposed locations, making it suitable for year-round installation on external walls. The E27 socket accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W, giving control over light output and colour temperature depending on the bulb chosen.
The die-cast aluminium construction handles UK coastal and urban environments without rusting, unlike pressed steel alternatives. The 440mm height and 205mm width suit standard UK porch and front-door scales, providing visible illumination without overwhelming smaller façades. The black finish works across Georgian, Victorian, cottage and modern rendered exteriors where a traditional coach-lantern profile is preferred over contemporary cube or cylinder fittings.
Elstead Lighting backs the Chapel with a 10-year manufacturer warranty, reflecting the durability expected from die-cast outdoor fittings. The clear glass panels can be accessed for cleaning by removing the lower glass section, avoiding full dismantling when wiping condensation or dust from the inside of the lantern.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Chapel take?
The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for a traditional porch-light appearance.
Is the Chapel suitable for coastal locations?
Yes. The die-cast aluminium body and black powder coat resist salt corrosion better than pressed steel or painted mild steel alternatives. The IP44 rating protects the electrical components from rain and moisture ingress in exposed coastal installations.
Can the glass panels be cleaned?
Yes. The lower glass section can be removed to access the inside of the lantern for cleaning condensation, dust or cobwebs without needing to disconnect the fitting from the wall or wiring.
What fixing method is used?
The Chapel mounts to an external wall via a rear backplate with two screw holes. The backplate should be fixed to masonry or solid substrate capable of supporting the lantern's weight plus wind load. Cable entry is through a central knockout in the backplate.
