Description
The Knightsbridge 70mm bi-metal holesaw is a cylindrical cutting tool designed to cut circular apertures in metal, wood and plastic materials. The cutting edge carries bi-metal variable teeth at 4/6 TPI (teeth per inch), combining wear resistance for metal cutting with aggressive material removal for wood and composite materials. The 70mm diameter refers to the outer cutting edge, producing a 70mm diameter hole in the workpiece.
Designed for electricians, shopfitters and tradespeople installing electrical accessories, the holesaw cuts through steel plate, stainless steel sheet, die-cast metal junction boxes, hardwood flooring, plywood, and rigid plastics up to 38mm thick in a single pass. The bi-metal construction bonds a high-speed steel cutting edge to a flexible steel body, allowing the teeth to stay sharp through metal and wood cutting cycles without fracturing. The holesaw requires a separate arbor (Knightsbridge HSARBORL) to mount onto a drill chuck.
The variable tooth spacing at 4 and 6 TPI reduces vibration and provides smoother cutting through mixed materials compared to fixed-tooth holesaws. The 38mm cutting depth accommodates standard UK wall depths, single-gang back boxes, and most junction box installations without needing to drill from both sides of the material. The yellow powder-coated finish identifies the Knightsbridge range and provides corrosion protection during storage between jobs.

Frequently Asked
What arbor does this holesaw require?
The 70mm holesaw requires the Knightsbridge HSARBORL arbor to mount onto a drill chuck. The arbor is sold separately and carries the pilot bit and threaded shaft that the holesaw screws onto.
What materials can it cut?
The bi-metal variable teeth cut steel, stainless steel, die-cast metals, hardwood floors, plywood and rigid plastics up to 38mm thick. It is not suitable for masonry, brick or concrete.
What drill speed should be used?
For steel and stainless steel, use low speed (200-400 RPM) with cutting lubricant. For wood and plastics, use medium speed (400-800 RPM) without lubricant. Excessive speed overheats the teeth and shortens holesaw life.
Can it be resharpened?
Bi-metal holesaws are designed as consumable cutting tools and cannot be economically resharpened once the teeth are worn. Replace the holesaw when cutting becomes slow or requires excessive drill pressure.
