Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur combines a switched fuse unit with a flex outlet and neon power indicator behind a smoked bronze screwless faceplate. The fused spur provides a switched, fused connection point for fixed appliances such as extractor fans, wall-mounted heaters, towel rails, or kitchen appliances that require permanent wiring rather than a plug-and-socket arrangement.

Designed for domestic and light commercial installation, the unit fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. The flex outlet beneath the rocker switch allows appliance cable to exit the plate cleanly, while the neon indicator confirms when the circuit is live. The 13A rating handles loads up to 3,120W at 230V, with BS 1363-4 certification confirming compliance with UK wiring regulations for switched connection units.

The smoked bronze finish provides a dark metallic tone that sits between gunmetal and brown-black, pairing well with industrial, contemporary and dark-toned interiors. The premium-grade steel construction gives the plate a 4.3mm low-profile projection from the wall once fitted, and the built-in gasket between the cover plate and sub-frame provides additional protection against dust ingress. Knightsbridge backs this unit with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is a fused spur used for?

Fused spurs provide a switched, fused connection for fixed appliances that need permanent wiring rather than a plug. Common applications include extractor fans, wall-mounted heaters, electric towel rails, kitchen waste disposal units, under-cabinet lighting, and hardwired security systems.

What does the flex outlet do?

The flex outlet is a cable exit slot beneath the rocker switch that allows the appliance cable to exit the faceplate cleanly without being pinched or kinked. This is useful when connecting appliances with pre-terminated cables that cannot be wired directly into the terminals.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon indicator lights when the circuit is live, confirming power is reaching the fused spur. This allows you to verify the supply is on without needing a multimeter, and confirms the fuse has not blown.

Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting or wallpapering around the unit and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring or terminals.
