Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket adds one USB-C port (up to 45W output) and one USB-A port (up to 18W output) behind a smoked bronze screwless faceplate with a black insert. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances.

Designed for residential, hospitality and office installation where fast charging is needed alongside standard mains outlets, the socket fits a standard 25-35mm back box depth (dependent on wiring conditions) and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This means there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per outlet.

The smoked bronze finish provides a warm metallic accent with a darker, more muted tone than polished or antique brass, pairing well with industrial, contemporary and warm-toned interiors. The black insert behind the bronze faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined edge to each outlet aperture. The USB-C port supports Power Delivery (PD) and Quick Charge (QC) standards at 20V/2.25A PD and 12V/1.5A QC, allowing laptops, tablets and smartphones to charge at their optimal rate. When both USB ports are in use simultaneously, the socket delivers 27W via USB-C and 18W via USB-A, totalling 45W fast-charge output across both ports.

The socket includes overload, overheat and overcurrent protection, and meets Over Voltage Category III certification. In standby mode (when no devices are charging) the socket consumes just 0.1W, complying with ErP energy efficiency standards. Fast charging efficiency is highest between 0-70% battery capacity, after which devices typically revert to standard charging rates to protect battery longevity.
