Lumos Downlight Square Frame - Black

The Lumos is a 100mm square downlight frame in black aluminium designed to house modular light sources in recessed ceiling installations. The frame itself is a trim ring that sits flush with the ceiling surface once the light module is installed, providing a finished edge around the downlight aperture. The black finish gives a defined border to the light output and pairs with both light and dark ceiling colours.

Designed for new-build and renovation projects where recessed downlights are specified, the frame accepts a range of Ideal Lux modular light sources sold separately (LED modules, lenses, reflectors and screens). This modular approach allows the light output to be tailored to the room — a narrow beam reflector for accent lighting, a wide flood lens for general ambient light, or an anti-glare screen for task lighting over worktops and desks. The square profile suits contemporary and minimalist interiors where circular downlights would look out of place.

The frame carries an IP54 front protection rating once the light module is fitted, meaning it resists dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for bathrooms (outside shower zones), kitchens above worktops, and covered outdoor areas where some moisture exposure occurs. The aluminium construction is lightweight enough for plasterboard ceilings but rigid enough to maintain its shape during installation and over years of use. The 100mm square aperture is a standard size in the Ideal Lux modular downlight range, so replacement modules and accessories remain available.

Is the light source included?

No. The Lumos frame is sold as a separate trim component. You will need to purchase a compatible Ideal Lux modular light source, lens or reflector to complete the downlight installation.

What IP rating does it carry?

The frame provides IP54 front protection once the light module is installed. This resists dust and water splashes, making it suitable for bathrooms (outside direct spray zones) and kitchens.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

Yes, with IP54 front protection the frame can be installed in bathrooms outside zones 0, 1 and 2 (typically the main ceiling area away from direct shower spray).
