Calis Alabaster Single Pendant Light - Brushed Brass

The Calis is a single pendant light built around a 265mm spherical diffuser of natural Spanish alabaster, held inside an arched brushed brass frame and suspended from a slender brass stem. A horizontal brass band wraps the centre of the globe, splitting the alabaster into upper and lower hemispheres and giving the pendant its defining geometric line. The fitting accepts a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and stands 480mm tall overall.

Sized for compact placements, the Calis suits bedside positions either side of a bed, kitchen island runs in pairs or threes, breakfast bar ends, and intimate dining tables where a smaller diffuser keeps sightlines open. The 265mm diameter is small enough to cluster without visual crowding, and the brass arch frame gives the fitting more vertical presence than a plain globe of the same size. Standard UK ceiling rose compatible.

Each alabaster globe is cut from natural Spanish stone, so veining, milky tonal shifts and translucency vary between individual pieces. When lit, the alabaster itself becomes the diffuser, casting a warm glow through the stone rather than projecting direct light downward. The brushed brass frame, stem and central band are finished with a low-sheen brushed texture that softens reflections and pairs with both warm-toned and cooler grey interiors.

What bulb does the Calis take?

The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. A warm-white LED between 6-9W and 2700K-3000K works well to bring out the natural translucence of the alabaster without over-driving the stone.

Is the Calis dimmable?

The fitting itself is a standard E27 lamp holder, so dimmability depends on the bulb you fit and the dimmer switch installed. Pair a dimmable LED with a compatible trailing-edge LED dimmer for smooth control.

Does the alabaster vary between pieces?

Yes. Each globe is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so veining, tonal shifts and the depth of translucency differ between individual pendants. This is a feature of the natural stone rather than a defect, and it becomes most visible once the bulb is lit.

Can the Calis be hung in a row over a kitchen island?

Yes. The compact 265mm diameter and 480mm height suit clustered installations of two or three pendants spaced along an island or breakfast bar. Each pendant requires its own ceiling outlet, and the drop should be set so the base of the globe sits roughly 700-800mm above the worktop.
