Description

The QTX VN2 is a dual channel VHF wireless microphone system built around a half-width 1U receiver. In the box you get two beltpack transmitters and two neckband headset microphones, so two people can speak or present at the same time on separate channels. It runs on two fixed VHF frequencies, 174.1MHz and 175.0MHz, and works license-free in the UK. Both batteries and a jack lead are supplied, so you can get set up straight away.

The receiver connects to your mixer or amplifier through balanced XLR or 6.3mm jack outputs, giving you a choice depending on your gear. It's powered from a 10Vac 250mA supply, which is included. Each beltpack transmitter takes a single 9V PP3 battery, also supplied. You get a signal to noise ratio above 85dB and total harmonic distortion (THD) below 0.2%, which keeps speech clear and low on hiss. Range is up to 50m, enough for most halls, classrooms and small venues.

The neckband (or headset) design keeps the microphone in a steady position near the mouth, so both hands stay free. This suits teaching, fitness classes, presentations and events where you move around a lot. Each beltpack measures 205 x 68 x 25mm excluding the aerial (antenna) and weighs 76g without a battery, so it clips on without pulling on clothing. The receiver measures 45 x 210 x 180mm and weighs 573g. Note that a maximum of two VHF frequencies can be run in combination, which is why this pairing is limited to two channels.
