Description

The QTX VN2 is a dual channel VHF wireless microphone system built around a half-width 1U receiver, two beltpack transmitters and two neckband headset microphones. It runs on two VHF frequencies, 173.8MHz and 174.8MHz, so you can have two people talking or presenting at once without trailing cables between them and the desk. Because it operates in the license-free band, you can use it in the UK without applying for any additional permissions.

Each performer clips a beltpack transmitter to a belt or waistband and wears the matching neckband (also called a headset) microphone, leaving both hands free. The receiver handles both channels and sends the combined audio out through XLR or 6.3mm jack connections, so it fits straight into most mixers, PA systems and amplifiers. You get a working range of up to 50m between transmitter and receiver, which covers a stage, a fitness studio or a conference room comfortably. The signal-to-noise ratio is greater than 85dB and total harmonic distortion (THD) is under 0.2%, so speech and vocals come through clean.

Power comes from the supplied mains adaptor for the receiver and a 9V PP3 battery in each beltpack transmitter, both included in the box along with a jack lead so you can get going without a separate shopping list. The receiver measures 45 x 210 x 180mm and weighs 573g, while each beltpack transmitter is 205 x 68 x 25mm (excluding the antenna, or aerial) and weighs just 76g without its battery. Note that a maximum of two VHF frequencies can be run together, so the VN2 suits paired setups rather than larger multi-mic installations.
